Everything you need to know before you leave for the 2021 Georgia Pharmacy Convention

Getting There

If you’re driving, click here for a map and directions courtesy of the resort.

If you’re flying into Jacksonville, a shuttle service is available to the resort from Amelia Island Transportation (ameliaislandtransportation.com). Cost is $60 per vehicle one-way plus tip; it can seat up to five people. Credit cards are accepted, but cash is preferred.

Self-parking is $20 per night; use a valet for $27/night plus tip.

Motorcycles are not permitted on the property. Not our rule; talk to the Amelia Island Plantation Community Association.

Badge Pickup and Registration

The registration desk is open for on-site registration, PharmPAC investment, President’s Bash ticket purchase, kids passes, and any questions.

If you arrive before 7:00, please give staff a chance to set up the desk before making your requests.

Registration desk hours:

  • Thursday: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.

Draw Down tickets and Pharm-a-Sea votes will be available for purchase at a separate desk in same area — just look for the signs.

Did you buy a convention T-shirt? It’ll be available for pick up when you get your badge, and when you see how awesome it is you’ll be able to buy more right there.

Remember: You must wear your badge to get into any course or event!

Weather

The weather during convention is expected to be in the low 80s (Fahrenheit) and not terribly humid. A perfect late-spring time!

Dress

It’s a resort. In Florida. On the beach. Casual is fine, but please don’t stretch the definition. You’ll see folks in shorts, khakis, golf and T-shirts, sandals… you get the idea.

“Resort casual” is suggested for the President’s Bash on Saturday night. We don’t know what it means either, so you’re on your own.

Presenters: Please wear business casual clothes: sports jacket without tie for men and comparable attire for women. Our attorney requests that you wear close-toed shoes to comply with OSHA regulations. And yes, he will be watching.

Food

Breakfast: Coffee, tea, and delicious pastries are available every morning in the foyer from 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. for attendees.

Lunch: On Saturday, each of GPhA’s academies* has its own luncheon. Be sure to stop by yours.

* Academy of Independent Pharmacy (AIP), Academy of Employee Pharmacists (AEP), Academy of Clinical and Health-System Pharmacists (ACHP), and Academy of Pharmacy Technicians (APT)

Student pharmacists have their own Saturday luncheon in Student Central — just look for the sign(s).

Dinner: Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served in the Expo Hall on Thursday and Friday — trust us, you can easily make a meal of them.

PharmPAC Reception

Friday, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

If you have invested $250 or more in PharmPAC this calendar year, you’ll find tickets to the reception in your registration packet.

If you have not yet invested, you can do it right at the registration desk.

CPE Credit

GPhA is using Lecture Panda to process continuing ed credits this year. You will need to create a (free) account to track your hours; they will automatically be reported to CPE Monitor.

Click here to visit GPhAconvention.com/cpe for the details of recording your credits.

Presentations/Handouts

Handouts will not be provided, but you’ll be able to view them right after convention via LecturePanda.
